Stress & Relaxation
Explained is a comprehensive, humanistic approach to
relaxation therapy and stress management techniques. Stress and
anxiety are all around us - from the pressures of the competitive
workplace, to our everyday obligations of home, family and finances.
Understanding the nature of stress and how it affects our mind,
body and overall health is key to effectively managing and responding
to it. Once you understand where stress comes from, its physiological
effects, and how it affects our behavior, you will be able to
more effectively utilize relaxation techniques like yoga, meditation
and guided imagery - and their rejuvenating effects will be far
more long-lasting.

Dr. Domar, founder and director of the Domar
Center for Complementary Healthcare says, “Stress is all around
us – at home, at work, even at play - we can’t totally
eliminate it from our lives. But we can learn to live with it. We
believe this DVD is unique in that it helps the viewer understand
how our bodies are hardwired to respond to stressful situations,
what the warning signs of an overly stressful lifestyle are and how
they affect your health. Once you understand that, you can begin
to take control of your life.” |

Stress and Relaxation Explained also contains two unique
sections:
- Real Life Case Study – Dr. Domar interviews
a typical, first-time “patient” in an unscripted
session to examine the stresses in her life and how she is attempting
to deal with them. Dr. Domar then leads her through two different
relaxation exercises for the first time ever, and we witness
the immediate rejuvenating effects. This section is designed
to show the viewer that their stressful experiences, and their
desire to manage them, are not unique and isolating.
- Immersive Imagery Experience – using
the latest home theatre sound and visual techniques, a nature-based
relaxation exercise is provided so the viewer can practice on
their own. Designed specifically to evoke the Relaxation Response,
the digital widescreen videography and 5.1 surround soundtrack
is a sampler of the interactive Guided Relaxation Immersion series
being released later this year by Healthvues.
